Infectious diseases are caused by microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi, and can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one animal to another.

If you have cattle then it’s inevitable that they will be exposed to a variety of infectious diseases at some point in their lifetime. Many are endemic (or continuously circulating) in British herds, such as BVD and IBR, whilst some are resident in other countries but pose a serious threat to Great Britain periodically, such as Bluetongue. (click on the name for more detail on BVD, IBR and Bluetongue)
